Barefoot Nightlife in Jose Ignácio

After reading about the hippie chic style of Jose ignacio you are interested in know a bit more?

Who goes to this little village during summer time can realize that it has something special. Pure style, full of charm and genuineness integrated to a low profile scene. There is almost no wi-fi there. Perfect to relax and enjoy the moment.

The gastronomic agenda is intense and varied. Hippie chic “on the beach” restaurants by day time, exclusive and modern with a touch of rusticity by night time. Here I will show you three of them that I had the amazing chance to get to know, but there is much more to come.

➡️La Huella

The most iconic restaurant of José Ignácio. Settled in Playa Brava, is fully booked every weekend from september to may. Absolutely a case of success. It doesn’t matter if it is warm or chill (thanks to stylish quilts and fireplaces). Make a reservation and be patient. The queues are huges (even with a table reserved) and they usually give priority to the habitués. Even so it worth every minute spent wainting. Delicious food, a vast wine menu and breathtaking views. But you should go there for the main reason so many people go: an impressive vibrant scene, in a rustic but chic place, full of charm and style.

The above pic shows the house’s classic, the pesca del dia (catch of the day). The couvert is served with some delicious bread. Everything is good, not excepcional, but with delicious taste. If you have some space, don’t hesitate to try the marvelous, unforgetable and perverse vulcano de dulce de leche. I didn’t take a photo to not remember the “pecado” I had made.

➡️La Susana

This incredible trendy restaurant in front of the beach at Playa Mansa was a terrific finding in our last visit. We used to have lunch at La Huella when going there. I think that La Susana came to offer the same level experience, even better I would say, more charming, once you are literally on the beach, without losing the Jose Ignacio’s high style. It’s perfect for a late lunch after a day spent on the beach just in front of the restaurant. The food is delicious. Don’t expect to much about the service, but it still worth because of the amazing inspiring vibe, not to mention the outstanding sunset you can enjoy just there, rocked by modern international DJ’s.

This was for sure the most surprising experience we had in Jose Ignacio. The restaurant is extraordinary in every detail: outstanding service, wonderful laid-back atmosphere, modern but charming at the same time, delicious food. The cuisine has Asiatic influence, but also serves remarkable meat grilled on the fire in the middle of the restaurant. Casual dining, with the Jose Ignacio stylish touch. To have a remarkable dinner.

Jose Ignácio Estilo Rústico Chique

Se você planeja ir à Punta del Este, no Uruguai, não pode deixar de conhecer (ou retornar) à José Ignácio, a aprox. 30km de Punta. Uma vilinha estilo rústico/chique que parece que parou no tempo, mas esbanja modernidade e alto estilo em restaurantes para lá de badalados e lojas com o que há de melhor em termos de design e moda.

Vale para pegar praia na badalada e ventosa Playa Brava. Vale para passear pelas lojinhas e tomar um sorvete. Vale para pedalar com calma e se perder pelas ruelas. Vale para apreciar o lindo e famoso Farol. Vale para curtir o belíssimo pôr-do-sol da Playa Mansa. E vale mais ainda para conhecer os super badalados restaurantes da região. Hippie Chic Jose Ignácio

If you are planning to go to Punta del Este, in Uruguay, you should include José Ignacio in your itinerary, about 30km from Punta. It’s a small fisherman’s village that seems to be stucked in the past, but at the same time it has plenty of vibrant and modern scene in trendy restaurants and ultra fashion beautiful shops.

It worth to have some beach feeling at the windy and trendy Playa Brava. Worth to do some window shopping while having a delicious ice cream. Worth to get lost riding a bike through the narrow streets. Worth to enjoy the beautiful and famous Lighthouse. Worth to enjoy the beautiful sunset in Playa Mansa. Descobertas Gastronômicas em Buenos Aires

Eu sou daquelas viajantes que adora pesquisar tudo sobre o meu próximo destino. A busca inclui sites e instagram, mas principalmente blogs de viagem, que eu adoro. Na minha recente ida a Buenos Aires, pesquisei o que poderia conhecer de novo, já que havia ido algumas vezes à cidade. Então seguem aqui duas belas descobertas. E uma antiga, mas imbatível e que vale sempre mencionar.

Estava procurando um lugar bacana para almoçar a céu aberto. Encontrei belas recomendações desse lugar lindo. E ele me surpreendeu. Ambiente uma delicia, comida muito boa, atendimento fantástico. Está aberto do café da manhã ao jantar. Achei um charme só. Fica no bairro de Palermo Chico, bem próximo aos Parques de Palermo. Para almoçar com calma, sem ver o tempo passar.

Nós estávamos degustando vinhos na loja de um amigo argentino que passou a nos recomendar intensamente esse restaurante designado como “cozinha de autor”. Sendo ele um legítimo local e muito bem relacionado, imaginamos que a dica era boa, mas não fazíamos ideia do quão boa. Localizado na charmosa e badalada região de Palermo Soho, o restaurante é realmente fantástico. Além de lindo e bem frequentado, oferece um atendimento em padrão internacional com comida simplesmente divina. Tudo com muito sabor e apresentação impecável. Para ter uma jantar em alto estilo.

Essa não é uma descoberta, mas vale o comentário, pois é, sem dúvida, uma das melhores parrillas da cidade. Cheia de estilo, original, pequena, carne de excelente qualidade, carta de vinhos repleta de bons rótulos. O que você poderia querer mais? Em Palermo Soho, lugar perfeito para fechar a noite depois de passear belas ruelas do bairro. Reserva é essencial. Ou se prepare para esperar – bastante – saboreando um bom espumante.

Buenos Aires for Food Lovers

I am one of those travelers who loves to research everything about my next destination. The search includes websites and instagram, but mostly travel blogs, which I love. On my recent trip to Buenos Aires, I researched what I could visit for the very first time. So here are two beautiful discoveries. And an old one, but unbeatable and worth mentioning.

➡️Casa Cavia

I was searching for an open air restaurant to have lunch. I found some great recommendations about this beautiful place. And it surprised me a lot. Delightful atmosphere, good food, high standard service. It runs from breakfast to dinner. Full of charm. Located in Palermo Chico, near the Palermo’s Parks. To relax and watch the time going by slowly…

➡️Crizia

We were in our Argentinian friend’s wine store having some wine tasting. Then he started to highly recommend us to get to know this place entitled as “signature cuisine”. As he is a local well-connected guy, we imagined it would be a nice suggestion, but we had no idea how wonderful it could be. Located in the trendy Palermo Soho neighborhood, this restaurant is absolutely fantastic. Besides having a charming atmosphere, it offers high standard service with divine food. Impeccable presentation filled with local and exotic flavors. To have a memorable dinner.

This is not a new discovery, but worth to mention cause it’s, no doubt, one of the best parrillas in town. Full of charm and singularity, cozy, excellent meat, expressive wine menu. What more could you ask for? Located in Palermo Soho, is the perfect place to end your day after wandering around the neighborhood’s beautiful narrow streets. Reservation is a must. Or be prepared to wait – for a long time – while tasting a nice sparkling wine.

Bosques de Palermo – Buenos Aires

Na nossa última ida a Buenos Aires, em Dezembro 2017, decidimos ficar no Bairro de Palermo Chico, mais residencial que o Palermo Soho e a poucas quadras dos famosos Bosques de Palermo.

O hotel CasaSur Bellini, aonde nos hospedamos, dispunha de bicicletas para uso dos hóspedes. Com elas, pudemos desfrutar e compreender a imensidão dos famosos parques, conhecendo partes que nunca havíamos visitado antes. Se o seu hotel não dispor de bicicletas, ou se estiver hospedado muito longe, você pode alugá-las no parque.

Para pedalar, para correr, caminhar ou apenas admirar a natureza, não existe lugar mais bonito em Buenos Aires. Algumas partes são tão exuberantes que você se sente num mix de Central Park com Hyde Park.

Vale a pena reservar algumas horas apenas para passear pelos parques, pois eles são muito extensos e exuberantes mesmo. Uma das partes que considero mais bonita é a região do lago em torno do El Rosedal e do Jardin de los Poetas. Para relaxar e ver o tempo passar sem pressa….

Parks of Palermo – Buenos Aires

In our recently escape to Buenos Aires, we decided to stay at Palermo Chico neighborhood, that is more residential than Palermo Soho and just a couple of blocks from the famous Palermo’s Parks.

The CasaSur Bellini Hotel, where we were staying, has some bicycles for their guests, so we could go around easily and had a perfect idea about how huge and wonderful those parks are. We had been there before, but have never realized how big it is. If your hotel doesn’t have bicycles available, or if you are too far, you can rent them at the park.

Doesn’t matter if it is for running, cycling, walking, or just to admire the nature, there is no other place so beautiful in Buenos Aires. Some parts are so splendid that you feel a mix of Central Park and Hyde Park.

It’s worth to spend some hours there just to wander around the charming parks, cause they are really huge and impressive. For me one of the most beautiful parts is the one around the lake, near El Rosedal and Jardín de los Poetas. To relax and watch the time goes by with no hurry at all…

Singular Wineries of Mendoza

Now that I have introduced you to the spectacular world of Mendoza, and showed how you can plan your trip, I am going to tell you the wineries you should include in your next (or first) visit, from my point of view, of course.

Believe it or not, they have more than a thousand wineries there, from small boutiques to huge producers. My husband had some particular wineries to include in our tour. Once it was our first visit in the region and he has great knowledge about argentinian wines, he had so many plans. About 10 wineries to visit in 4 days. “OMG”! I thought… “I will need a new liver after this…” But everything went fine, as you only taste how much you want to. The good side is that we were able to visit almost every winery that was on our list. That’s why I will tell you about the ones we’ve been, and not about every big and famous Mendoza winery (which you can easily find at experiencemendoza.com).

PULENTA ESTATE

A well know boutique winery that is controlled by some of the most tradicional families of Mendoza. With modern installations, a small museum inside (on the tour you can see it), great vineyard views from the tasting rooms and wonderful wines, it was one of the best visits we had.

CATENA ZAPATA

It’s a must place to visit. The most famous and traditional family of Mendoza, with spetacular wines, huge vineyards widespread all over Mendoza (in the three areas) and an outstanding winery, with a pyramid-shaped building. It’s one of the most demanded wine tours by people who really appreciate wine and culture. Because of its fame and exclusivity (just 4 – 6 people each tour), it was the hardest one to book, so if you want to go there, hurry up!

COBOS

This winery has one of the most high quality wines of Mendoza and my husband was crazy about it. Just don’t expect to have plenty of history like Catena and Pulenta or outstanding views. It’s a winery to have a great tasting, probably one of the best in this aspect.

ACHAVAL FERRER

This is a boutique winery similar to Cobos. They have high quality wines, but don’t expect to have an outstanding tour. It’s much more about the tasting, that is frequently taken in the garden with spetacular views.

EL ENEMIGO

This is a winery that you should include in your itinerary, especially for lunch. The winemaker had developed his knowledge at Catena, so you can expect high quality wines in a very small and young winery, with warm hospitality and great gourmet food.

ZUCCARDI

This winery has some peculiarities. At first, it’s important to mention that there is two branches, the biggest, in Maipú, where they produce their basic line Santa Julia. The other, in Valle de Uco, it’s a newer one that just produces Zuccardi line (higher quality). We went to the Maipú branch and realized that it’s very commercial, although it’s beautiful and has many activities to do, as riding a bike through the vineyards (one of my dreams). The experience I really recommend is to have lunch at Casa del Visitante Restaurant, inside the winery. They serve the classic parrilla, that includes Argentinian meat, classic empanadas (fantabulous, by the way), salad and vegetables. And you can pair it with Zuccardi Wines. Just perfect!

CHANDON

On my birthday my husband had a surprise for me… We had lunch at Chandon to drink sparkling wine (that I love with all my heart!). It’s a delicious gourmet menu paired with the best sparkling wines they have. The architecture is amazing, you feel like you are in France. Actually, it was the first Moet&Chandon branch outside France (just Chandon here) and the sparkling wines have amazing quality and flavour. Perfect for bubbles lovers.

As Vinícolas Mais Especiais de Mendoza

Agora que já comecei a introduzir vocês no incrível mundo de Mendoza e mostrei como sugiro planejar a sua viagem, eu vou contar sobre as vinícolas (bodegas) que deveriam ser inclusas na próxima (ou primeira) visita à região, tudo pelo meu ponto de vista, é claro.

Acredite se quiser, existem mais de mil vinícolas na região, das pequenas estilo “boutique” até as grandes produtoras. Meu marido tinha algumas vinícolas bem peculiares para incluir no nosso roteiro. Era nossa primeira vez na região e ele tem um bom conhecimento sobre vinhos argentinos, então estava cheio de planos. Mais ou menos 10 bodegas em 4 dias. “Socorro!” Eu pensei… “Vou precisar de um fígado novo depois disso…” Mas foi tudo maravilhoso e sem grandes exageros, pois você degusta o quanto quiser. O lado bom é que pudemos visitar as principais da nossa lista. É por isso que vou contar sobre as bodegas em que estivemos, e não sobre todas as grandes e famosas (que você pode encontrar facilmente no site experiencedendoza.com).

PULENTA ESTATE

Uma bodega boutique controlada por uma das famílias mais tradicionais de Mendoza. Com instalações modernas, um pequeno museu (que você vê ao longo do tour), salas de degustação com vistas espetaculares dos vinhedos e vinhos bem renomados, foi uma das melhores visitações que fizemos.

CATENA ZAPATA

É uma parada obrigatória para quem visita Mendoza pela primeira vez. A família mais tradicional e conhecida da região, com produção de vinhos espetaculares, vastos vinhedos espalhados por todas as três principais regiões e uma bodega excepcional, com um prédio exótico feito em forma de pirâmide. É uma das bodegas mais demandadas por pessoas que realmente apreciam vinho e cultura. Devido a sua fama e exclusividade (apenas 4 – 6 pessoas em cada tour), foi a mais difícil de conseguir reserva, então se deseja conhecê-la, corra para conseguir agendar.

COBOS

Essa bodega produz alguns vinhos dos mais renomados de Mendoza e meu marido estava super ansioso para visitá-la. Apenas não espere por um lugar cheio de história como Catena e Pulenta, ou vistas espetaculares. É uma bodega para fazer uma excelente degustação. Provavelmente uma das melhores nesse quesito.

ACHAVAL FERRER

É uma bodega boutique que me lembrou a Cobos em termos de estrutura. Eles têm vinhos de excelente qualidade, apenas não espere por um tour super especial. É muito mais pela degustação em si, que frequentemente é realizada no jardim com vista espetaculares das montanhas.

EL ENEMIGO

Essa é uma vinícola que você deveria incluir no seu itinerário, especialmente para almoço. O enólogo desenvolveu seu conhecimento na Catena Zapata, então você pode esperar por vinhos de altíssima qualidade em uma bodega pequena e super nova, com excelente atendimento e um menu degustação de maravilhar o estômago.

ZUCCARDI

Essa vinícola tem umas particularidades. Primeiro, é importante mencionar que existem duas unidades: uma bem grande em Maipú, que produz a linha “de entrada” Santa Julia, e outra mais nova no Valle do Uco, que produz somente a linha Zuccardi, de melhor qualidade. Nós fomos à unidade de Maipú e percebemos que ela é bem comercial, embora seja linda e ofereça uma série de atividades, tal como andar de bicicleta pelos vinhedos (um dos meus sonhos). A experiência que mais recomendo é o almoço na Casa del Visitante, dentro da vinícola. Eles servem a clássica Parrila, com carne argentina (claro), empanadas fabulosas, salada e vegetais. E, para acompanhar, vinhos da linha Zuccardi. Simplesmente perfeito! Certamente um dos pontos altos da viagem.

CHANDON

No meu aniversário meu marido me fez uma surpresa e fomos almoçar na Chandon. Ele sabe que eu amo espumante e estava sedenta por uma taça gelada naquele calor depois de tantos tintos. Eles servem um menu degustação muito bom acompanhado com os melhores espumantes da casa. A arquitetura é fantástica, você se sente na França. Vale destacar que essa foi a primeira sucursal da Moet&Chandon fora da França (aqui se chama apenas Chandon). Os espumantes têm qualidade e sabor extraordinários. Realmente vale muito a pena para quem gosta das borbulhas.

Planejando Sua Primeira Viagem à Mendoza

Pensando em ir após ler meu post sobre a Sonhada Mendoza?

Primeiramente, procure se organizar com antecedência. Por algum razão (provavelmente a sua fama), a região de Mendoza está sempre lotada. Então se você pretende conhecer as vinícolas mais exclusivas (não aquelas bem turísticas) e ficar nos hotéis mais charmosos no meio dos vinhedos, você precisa começar a organizar tudo com alguns meses de antecedência. Caso contrário, você vai ter que aceitar o que estiver disponível. Veja opções de hotéis aqui.

Para ajudar na organização, considero essencial ter uma agência local especializada como referência, pois através dela fica muito mais fácil montar o roteiro e conseguir reservas nas vinícolas mais concorridas. Nós fizemos com a Red Globe Tours, através do Roman (o proprietário) e posso dizer que eles são super dinâmicos, respondendo às minhas dúvidas e solicitações super rápido.

Cada estação do ano tem suas particularidades. Na nossa primeira visita, nós fomos no final do verão, na época da colheita, quando os vinhedos estão verdinhos e repletos de uvas, a temperatura ainda é quente (cerca de 20oC a 30oC) e as montanhas raramente tem um ponto branco. Em Abril ou Maio, o clima fica mais ameno, mas ainda agradável para ficar ao ar livre, as folhas dos vinhedos ficam avermelhadas, embora sem uvas, e as montanhas já começam a ficar branquinhas. Mágico. No inverno é frio e pode nevar, ainda que raramente. Vi algumas fotos com tudo branquinho e fiquei maravilhada, mas confesso que seriam necessárias algumas garrafas de vinho a mais (acho que isso não seria um problema). Na primavera, volta o clima ameno e as folhas comecam a aparecer novamente. O melhor de tudo é que Mendoza tem um clima super árido e seco, portanto é bem difícil chover, mesmo no inverno, garantindo dias lindos de sol quase o ano todo.

Algo importante a saber antes de ir é que a região de Mendoza é bem grande e os vinhedos e suas vinícolas estão bem espalhadas em três principais regiões: Maipú, Lujan de Cuyo e Valle de Uco.
