On our first night in Dubrovnik we went to the center for dinner at one of the most recommended restaurants by the agency that organized the trip to Croatia: the Proto Restaurant. What an exceptional experience! The restaurant is unpretentious with great elegance, excellent gourmet food, chic and casual at the same time, with lots of charm. The most requested course is a roasted fish inside a thick layer of sea salt that is broken at the time of serving. Wonderful! The cherry on the cake – great price for what you get. We loved it !!!

There is another restaurant managed by the same company that is farther more sophisticated – and pricy – just outside the walls. Nautika Restaurant is highly recommended for those who want to have a fancy dinner and it’s very well located on the opposite side of the main entrance to the walls.

Also worth mentioning the trendy restaurant 360, which is well-known, super modern, with tasting menu. As we wanted to have more genuine experiences – not so modern ones – we chose not to go there, but everyone says it’s excellent and it’s also very well located, in front of the old port.

If you walk inside the walls towards the sea, there are some exclusive bars where you can watch the sunset. Worth it booking in advance. We watch the sunset from the top of the walls, on a tour that you can carry out by buying a ticket next to one of the entrance doors. I can say it was beautiful and I believe we had the best view of all, but in these bars the view is also incredible and it’s a very romantic experience.

Talking about beautiful sunset, I highly recommend you to enjoy a lively afternoon at the lounge bar of the Excelsior Hotel with great atmosphere, good music and absolutely overwhelming sunset views.

To end our stay in Dubrovnik with a special touch, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant next to ours, from the same chain, the Victoria Restaurant and Lounge of the Villa Ursula hotel. It is a restaurant with a Peruvian touch and lots of charm. We stayed at a table under a beautiful vineyard in front of the sea. I can imagine the sunset from there must be fantastic, just like it was at our hotel. So worth it getting there before the sunset to enjoy the show.

Então comecei a ver Game of Thrones, a série mais aclamada do momento, e descobri que a singular “Kings Landing” era nada mais, nada menos que a lindíssima Dubrovnik. Isso gerou ainda mais ansiedade para conhecer essa cidade cheia de história.

Chegamos num final de tarde lindo. O sol estava se pondo atrás da cidade amuralhada. Nosso hotel ficava na beira do mar com aquele azul enigmático. Ora verde, ora marinho. O Excelsior Dubrovnik é um hotel belíssimo que foi recém reformado. Tem uma localização fantástica, a pouco mais de 500 metros de uma das portas de entrada das muralhas, com acesso a praia privativo e todo conforto que um hotel 5* promete.

No outro dia, no final de tarde, realizamos um walking tour pelo interior das muralhas. Entramos pela porta Sul, que fica ao lado do Antigo Porto, ainda muito utilizado para embarcações menores. Essa região é puro charme e fica bem cheia à noite, quanto restaurantes e cafés lotam de pessoas querendo ver e ser vistas.

Vale ressaltar que Dubrovnik é uma cidade antiquíssima. Ela não foi criada para o Game of Thrones, “assim como alguns americanos perguntam”, mencionou nossa guia com desdém. Ela já serviu de pano de fundo para muitos filmes e séries, isso é verdade. O novo filme de Star Wars, por exemplo, alugou a rua principal por uma semana e pagou nada menos que 6 milhões de euros para isso. A cidade está badalada, é o destino preferido na Croácia.

Dubrovnik, no entanto, é muito mais do um cenário de filme. A pequena vila de apenas 45 mil habitantes é considerada a pérola do Adriático pela sua beleza única e importância desde a Idade Média. Beleza essa que foi seriamente prejudicada em uma guerra recente. Em 1991, mais precisamente em 6 de dezembro, logo após a União Soviética acabar e Iugoslávia se dissolver, Sérvia e Montenegro cercaram a cidade e realizaram intensos bombardeios sobre a pequena cidade. Todos comentam sobre isso. É possível se ver em todos os cantos da cidades os marcos da guerra. Tiros, prédios devastados. Muito triste!
O que impressiona é a força com que eles conseguiram se revitalizar e virar a página. Algo tão recente, tão forte e tão presente na memória de todos e, ainda assim, encontramos alí muito mais alegria de viver do que qualquer outro sentimento. A cidade hoje está mais viva do que nunca. É uma cidade que surpreende e encanta a todos!

It’s been a while since I started to heard about Croatia and Dubrovnik in particular. So I started to watch Game of Thrones and I figured it out that “Kings Landing” was not less than the beautiful Dubrovnik itself, which made me even more anxious about going to this historical city.

We arrived in a golden afternoon. The sun was setting behind the walled city. Our hotel was settled in front of the beach with that enygmatic sea. Sometimes green, sometimes blue. The Hotel Excelsior is a fabulous recently renowed 5* hotel with a wonderful location, about 500 meters from the wall’s entrance and in front of a private beach

Right after checking in a room that I completely fell in love, we walked to the city center to have dinner. Since the moment we step inside the walls, we were enchanted by the beauty of the village. Pure charm and history. Inside the walls there are lots of boutiques, bars, coffee shops, bistrôs and celebrated restaurants.

We decided to have dinner in a place recommended by our travel agency and it surprised us a lot. I will share with you every Hiddem Gems of Dubrovnik.

On the other day, in the afternoon, we did a walking tour inside the walls. We got in through the South door, just next to the Old Port, that still remain in use by smaller boats. This region houses charming restaurants and lively atmosphere during the night.

Worth it mentioning that Dubrovnik is a very ancient city. It was not created for Game of Thrones, as some north americans ask, our guide mentioned with disgust. It has already been used as background for many films and series, that’s true. For an example, the new Star Wars movie has paid about 6 millions euros to rent the main street for a whole week. It’s one of the trendiest cities in Europe.

Dubrovnik is much more than a movie background. The small 45-thousand-inhabitants village is considered the Pearl of the Adriatic for its amazing beauty and relevance since the Middle Age. Beauty that was seriously harmed in a recent war. In 1991, right after the end of the Soviet Union and the dissolution of Yugoslavia, Serbia and Montenegro surrounded Dubrovnik for more than 6 months and made intense shellings. Everyone talks about that. It’s something you can see all over the place, there are lots of war traces in every building.
What really impressed us is their strenght and how they turned this page so fast. It’s something that happened so recently, it’s so alive in everyone’s memory and we still find much more joy and gratefulness there than in many other places. Dubrovnik is more alive than ever. It’s a place to go back a million times.

Isso significa que depois disso você pode tomar café da manhã e se preparar para um dia inteiro de atividades. Aqui eu listo algumas coisas que você pode fazer:

Visitar uma Cidade Subterrânea
São 36 cidades subterrâneas descobertas até hoje. A maior e mais interessante de todas é a Kaymakli, com 8 andares e aproximadamente 60 metros de profundidade. Eles acreditam que ela tem mais de 4 mil anos, o que nos remete a 2.500 a.C., aproximadamente. Sua construção, que levou centenas de anos, foi motivada principalmente para proteção contra inimigos, mas eles não costumavam morar lá, era utilizado apenas durante o período de guerra, inicialmente.
É impressionante a quantidade de tecnologia colocada na construção. Por exemplo, fizeram pequenas buracos em todos os ambientes para facilitar a comunicação. As portas eram grandes estruturas redondas que encaixavam perfeitamente nos buracos dos corredores e facilitavam a fuga caso um inimigo de aproximasse. Além disso, os buracos facilitavam a ventilação natural. Quando os Turcos Otomanos tomaram a região no século XIV, findou-se o período de guerras e as cidades passaram a ser utilizadas como fuga do extremo calor que assola a região todos os verões.
Fazer um Piquenique no Vale de Ihlara
Esse lugar fica um pouco distante de Goreme – aproximadamente 1 hora – mas tem uma natureza exuberante e uma atmosfera incrível. Eu recomendo visitá-lo com pelo menos duas horas, com calma. Nós tínhamos somente uma hora e percorremos a trilha mais curta de 3km, após descer cerca de 300 graus. Foi bem cansativo, não posso negar, mas foi gratificante.
O Vale de Ihlara, com seus 14kms de extensão, abriga mais de 300 cavernas e 100 igrejas subterrâneas. No meio do cânion passa um pequeno riacho aonde você pode descansar e se refrescar durante a caminhada. Muitos fazem a trilha inteira, de 14km, sendo um passeio de dia inteiro, podendo fazer um piquenique no meio do caminho. Recomendo sapatos confortáveis e uma boa proteção solar.
Caminhar Através da História Católica no Museu a Céu Aberto de Goreme
Esse lugar é um exemplo fantástico de como o catolicismo era forte nessa região. Foi fundado entre os séculos IX e XII por São Basílio e São Gregório como um mosteiro, todo esculpido nas pedras. No início, haviam mais de 20 igrejas, mas hoje restam apenas 07 que podem ser visitadas internamente. A mais impressionante de todas é chamada de Igreja Azul, por causa da tonalidade azul dos afrescos – algo incomum na época, a cor azul foi trazida da Índia.
Cada igreja representava um nível de estudo, aonde monges homens e mulheres estudavam juntos. Foi o primeiro lugar na história do Cristianismo a aceitar homens e mulheres estudando juntos. É incrível de ver como eles construíram tantos ambientes dentro das rochas, incluindo cozinha e sala de jantar, e está em tão bom estado de conservação até hoje. Realmente um dos passeios mais emblemáticos da Capadócia.
Ver o Pôr do Sol no Vale Vermelho
Essas impressionantes formas geométricas são o cenário perfeito para um lindo pôr do sol. Você pode ir pra lá de carro com uma garrafa de vinho e aproveitar um maravilhoso entardecer. Você também pode fazer um passeio de quadriciclo ou, ainda mais romântico, uma cavalgada romântica, parando em algum ponto para assistir o sol se pôr atrás do Vale.

Quando o sol começa a brilhar, centenas de pessoas circulam por todos os lados para ver os balões voando e tirar aquela foto mais maravilhosa. Um dos melhores lugares para fazer isso é do Vale do Amor, com suas formas geológicas incríveis. Eu recomendo estar lá antes do sol nascer para que possa encontrar o melhor lugar e apreciar o espetáculo.
Ficar Maravilhado pela Charmosa Vila de Uchisar
Nós ficamos em Uchisar, uma pequena vila no topo de um morro ao lado do Vale das Pombas. Ela é muito mais charmosa e menos turística que Goreme, mas a vista dos balões ao amanhecer é mais distante daqui. Lá vc ira encontrar o Castelo de Uchisar, uma estrutura rochosa impressionante que já foi utilizada como Castelo pelos Reis da Região. Você pode caminhar pelas belas ruelas e ter a vista do castelo de todos os lados. Existe um outro castelo, de menor tamanho, no lado esquerdo – ao lado do Vale das Pombas – que também é lindo e de onde você pode tirar as mais lindas fotos sem ter ninguém pra atrapalhar.
Testemunhar o Quanto a Natureza é Incrível no Vale das Chaminés de Fadas
É lindo de ver como a natureza pode criar formas tão incríveis, seja pela chuva e vento, seja pela erosão causada pelos vulcões. É o lugar mais próximo que se pode chegar das cavernas. Entrando entre as rochas, existe um ponto que ficou famoso no Instagram aonde todos tiram fotos, então você já pode imaginar que é difícil de andar, quem dirá tirar uma foto sem ninguém nela. Eu fui para esse lugar as 17:30. O sol estava perfeito, mas tudo muito cheio. Se quiser ser exclusivo, recomendo ir logo ao nascer do sol ou bem tarde.
Cappadocia, in Turkey, is much more than hot air ballons – that are really fantastic – but the “show” only lasts for about 2 hours, at early morning. It means after that you can have breakfast and be prepared for a full day of activities. Those are some things you can do:

Visit an Underground City
There are more than 36 underground cities in the whole region. The biggest and most interesting one is Kaymakli, with 8 floors and about 60 meters of (DEPTH). They believe it has more than four thousand years, dating back to 2.500 b.C. It was built for many and many years to protect the people of their enemies, but they didn’t use to live there all the time, only during war.
It’s impressive how much technology they have print on it. For an example, there were small holes at every room to facilitate communication. The doors were (ROUNDS) and fitted perfectly in the (ALLEYS). When an enemy approached, they used to closed the rooms with these huge doors, so they could escape before someone get in. Also, the holes between rooms were used as natural ventilation. After the Turkish arrived at XIV century, the war was over, so they started to use the underground cities to escape the extremely hot weather during summer season.
Have a Picnic at Ihlara Valley
This place is a bit far from Goreme – aprox. 1 hour drive – but has great nature and wonderful atmosphere. I recommend you to visit with at least 2 hours to do everything in a relaxing pace. We did a bit faster (about an hour) and it was very tiring, but remarkable.
Ihlara Valley, with its 14km of extension, houses more than 300 caves and more than 100 underground churches. In the middle of the canyons there is a beautiful and peaceful river were you can chill and rest. I recommend you to have a picnic there, it’s a delicious activity. Some people do the complete trail, others (like me) do the “easy” 3 km trail, after walking down about 300 steps, so be prepared – comfortable shoes are mandatory.
Walk Through Catholic History at Goreme Open Air Museum
This place is a fantastic example of how Christianity has grown strong in this area. It was founded between IX and XII by San Basílio and San Gregorio as a monastery all sculpt in rocks. In the beginning, there was more than 20 churches, but now only rests 7, that you can visit inside. The most impressive one is called the Blue Church, because of the blue tons of the paintings on the walls – something uncommon in that era, the blue color was brought from India.
Each church represents a level of study, where men and women monks used to learn together. It was the first place on the Cristin history to accept men and women studying together. It’s pretty amazing to see how they built so many rooms inside the rocks, including kitchens and dinner areas, and it’s well maintained until today.

These impressive geological forms are the perfect setting for a beautiful sunset. You can go there by car carrying a bottle of wine to enjoy the most beautiful moment. You can also go by quadricycle or, even more romantic, you can do a horseback riding, stop at a beautiful point and enjoy the sun setting behind the valley.

When the sun first starts to shine, hundreds of people go everywhere to see the hot air balloons flying and have the most instagramable picture. One of the best places to see it is from the Love Valley, with its incredible geological forms. I recommend you to be there before the sunrise, so you can find the best spot and enjoy the show.
Be Amazed by the Charming Village of Uchisar
We stayed in Uchisar, a small village on the top of the hill above Pigeon Valley. It’s much more charming and less touristic than Goreme, but the view of the balloons are a bit further from this point. There you can find the Uchisar Castle, an impressive rock which was once used as a Castle by the Kings of the Region. You can walk around Uchisar beautiful streets and be amazed by the castle from every point. There is another small castle on the left side of the village – in front of the Pigeon Valley – that’s also beautiful and where you can take the most amazing pics without anyone bothering you.
Witnessing How Much Nature is Incredible at Valley of Fairy Chimneys
It’s beautiful to see how nature created such wonderful shapes. It’s one of the closest points you can get from the caves. Inside, there is a place which became famous in Instagram and where everyone take photos, so you can imagine it is hard to walk, even harder to take a picture with no one on it. I went to this place around 5.30pm. The sun was perfect and I could take some wonderful shots from above, but inside was absolutely packed. That being said, if you want to be exclusive, go there at first rays of sunshine or late afternoon.
Cape Town is a city which offers endless options for every kind of visitor. From fitness people looking for places to exercise to foodies always in search for the next outstanding meal, it’s a place to visit at least once-in-a-lifetime. Here I will show only a “taste”of what you can do if you had about 5 days to explore the town.
Day 1. Stroll Around the V&A Waterfront Area
This is a program that must be included in every itinerary, even if if you have only a day in Cape Town. It’s not because it’s a touristic place, but because you can have wonderful views of the Table Mountain from the V&A and you can also have a delicious meal at an oceanfront restaurant, as we did at The Harbor House. A definitely must do experience while visiting the city.

To go up to the most iconic place of Cape Town, you can either take a cable car or hike it up. It’s about two hours walking and then you can take the cable car to go down. By cable car is about a 10 mins ride in a spinning panoramic gondola. Once you are up there, you can choose a place, open a wine (that we brought with us) and enjoy absolutely amazing views of the whole city.

Day 2. Drive Along the Peninsula
If you have only two days in Cape Town, besides walking along the V&A Waterfont and watching the sunset at the Table Mountain, as I mentioned before, you can rent a car or hire a driver/uber (as we did) to have a scenic tour along the Peninsula. It takes at least 4 – 5 hours to do it properly., or a whole day if you have this time. I recommend you to start clockwise, from Muizenberg, so you will always drive with the ocean on your left hand (remember it was a British colony – left hand drive).

You will pass through Simons Town, a beautiful british style beach.We stopped at Boulders Beach to have a look at the Penguins Colony, where you can see thousands of cute penguins. Then, if you have time, you can drive through the Cape of Good Hope, or you can directly drive to the other side of the Peninsula, passing through beautiful beaches and finally entering in one of the most scenic roads I’ve ever seen (it’s similar to Highway 1, in California, but smaller). You must reserve at least 30 mins to drive the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive in a slow pace, stopping as much as you want along the route. It’s definitely breathtaking!!!

Take a look at the Llandudno Beach, the most beautiful one in my opinion. And finally you can ended up your tour at the beautiful and lively Camps Bay.

This is definitely one of the best places to have amazing sunset views while tasting a good South African wine. I recommend you to choose either to stay in the middle of the action, at Zenzero or Chinchilla, or move to a more private sunset from the beautiful and trendy Bungalow. In this area you can also ride a bike and cycle along the charming beachfront promenade.

Day 3. Ride a Bike Through Scenic Beachfront Roads
My husband loves to cycle, so I decided to contact Bike & Saddle and choose their Half Day Fitness Cycle. It’s a vigorous ride from Camps Bay climbing up the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive. Before we start, we thought we wouldn’t be able to accomplish it, but then we realized we were cycling along absolutely breathtaking views – literally. It was one of the higlights of the whole trip and I higly recommend it for those who are adventure seekers. It’s not that difficult and I can affirm you will cycle the most wonderful kilometers of your life.

Have a Feast of the Gods – or many of them
Cape Town is well know for its high standard culinary. As we had only 5 nights there, we couldn’t try it all, but I can definitely affirm its cuisine is absolutely outstanding. We had the most spectacular tasting menu at the Greenhouse Restaurant, one of the Top in Africa, a succulent brandy & truffled prime rib at the Shortmarket Club, a delicious and elegant dinner at the Signal, inside the Cape Grace Hotel, but there is so much more, such as the TestKitchen, La Colombe, Foxcroft and so many others we would have to spend a full month there to experience it all.

Day 4. Try Some Good Wine Minutes from the City Center
As you may know by now, South Africa is acknowledge for its wine production, particularly in the Winelands Region – Stellenbosch and Franschhoek as the most famous cities. But maybe you don’t know that only a 20 minutes drive from the V&A there is a wine region they call New Winelands, more specific the Constantia neighborhood. It’s where we stayed at the beginning of the trip. These estates had their first wine production back there in the XVIII century. We visited the Klein Constantia Estate because of their Vin de Constance, one of the most awarded dessert wines of the world. You can also have a delicious lunch there to balance your body after so much wine.

Day 5. Visit The Beautiful Kirstenbosch Gardens
If you are the kind of visitor that loves to mix your itinerary with some beautiful parks, than you should visit this place. It’s absolutely beautiful, different from any other place I’ve ever visited before. You have to pay a fee to get in and you can also pay for a tour with a golf cart. Along the way, you will see ancient trees widespread along a vast terrain. Or you can take a basket of your favorite delights and have a delicious picnic beyond nature.

1o Dia
Passear pela Área de V & A Waterfront
Este é um programa que deve ser incluído em todos os itinerários, mesmo se você tiver apenas um dia na Cidade do Cabo. Não é só porque é um lugar turístico, mas porque você terá uma vista maravilhosa da Table Mountain a partir da V&A. Além disso, você pode se deliciar com uma refeição à beira-mar, como fizemos no The Harbour House. Uma experiência que todos devem ter ao visitar a cidade.

Assistir ao Pôr do Sol da Table Mountain
Para subir no lugar mais icônico da Cidade do Cabo, você pode pegar um teleférico ou fazer uma longa caminhada montanha acima. São cerca de duas horas por trilhas de trekking e você pode pegar o bonde para descer caso considere uma tarefa muito árdua. De teleférico são cerca de 10 minutos de passeio em uma gôndola panorâmica giratória. Quando estiver lá em cima, você pode escolher um lugar, abrir um vinho (que nós trouxemos conosco) e desfrutar de vistas absolutamente incríveis de toda a cidade. Procure comprar os ingressos antes para evitar filas.

2o Dia
Dirigir ao Longo da Península
Se você tem apenas dois dias na Cidade do Cabo, além de caminhar ao longo do V&A Waterfont e assistir ao pôr do sol na Table Mountain, como eu mencionei antes, sugiro que você alugue um carro ou contrate um motorista / uber (como fizemos) para fazer um passeio ao longo da Península. Leva pelo menos 4 – 5 horas para fazê-lo corretamente, ou um dia inteiro, se você dispor desse tempo. Eu recomendo que você comece no sentido horário, partindo de Muizenberg, então você sempre dirigirá com o mar em sua mão esquerda (lembre-se que era uma colônia britânica – portanto direção invertida).

Você passará por Simons Town, uma linda praia de estilo britânico. Nossa primeira parada foi em Boulders Beach para conhecer a Penguins Colony, onde se pode ver milhares de pinguins andando livremente pelas areias da praia. Se tiver tempo, vale dirigir através do Cabo da Boa Esperança, ou você pode seguir diretamente para o outro lado da Península, passando por belas praias e finalmente entrando em uma das estradas mais cênicas que eu já vi ( parecida com a Highway 1, na Califórnia, porém menor). Você precisa reservar pelo menos 30 minutos para dirigir pelos 10km da encantadora Chapman’s Peak Drive, parando o quanto quiser ao longo do percurso. É definitivamente de tirar o fôlego!!!

Ao final do trajeto, dê uma olhada na Praia de Llandudno, a mais bonita em minha opinião. E finalmente termine sua turnê na bela e animada Camps Bay.

Este é certamente um dos melhores lugares para ter uma bela vista do pôr do sol enquanto degusta um bom vinho sul-africano. Eu recomendo que escolha entre ficar no meio da agitação, no Zenzero ou no Chinchilla, ou num lugar um pouco mais privado, como no badalado Bungalow. Nesta área, você também pode pedalar ao longo do encantador calçadão à beira-mar.

Andar de Bicicleta pelas Belas Estradas à Beira-Mar
Meu marido adora pedalar, então decidi entrar em contato com a Bike & Saddle e escolher o Half Day Fitness Cycle. É um passeio vigoroso partindo de Camps Bay subindo a cênica Chapman’s Peak Drive. Antes de começarmos, pensamos que não seriamos capazes de realizá-lo, mas então percebemos que estávamos pedalando ao longo de vistas absolutamente deslumbrantes – literalmente. Foi um dos destaques de toda a viagem e eu recomendo para aqueles que procuram aventura. Não é tão difícil assim e posso afirmar que você percorrerá os quilômetros mais maravilhosos da sua vida.

Cape Town é reconhecida por sua culinária de altíssimo padrão. Como nós tínhamos só 5 noites por lá, não pudemos provar de tudo, mas pela experiência que tivemos já posso afirmar que a culinária é absolutamente fantástica. Provamos o menu degustação mais espetacular da vida no Greenhouse Restaurant, um dos melhores da África. Nos deliciamos com uma suculenta costela trufada no Shortmarket Club. Também saboreamos um jantar elegante no Signal, dentro do Cape Grace Hotel, mas não acaba por aí, tem muito mais, como o TestKitchen, La Colombe, Foxcroft e tantos outros, teríamos que passar um mês inteiro lá para experimentar tudo.

Deguste Bons Vinhos a Minutos do Centro
Como você já deve saber, a África do Sul é reconhecida por sua produção de vinho, particularmente na região das Winelands – Stellenbosch e Franschhoek como as cidades mais famosas. Mas talvez você não saiba que a apenas 20 minutos de carro da V&A há uma região vinícola chamada New Winelands, mais especificamente o bairro de Constantia. É onde ficamos no início da viagem. Estas vinícolas tiveram suas primeiras produções de vinho no século XVII e XVIII. Nós visitamos a Klein Constantia Estate por causa de seu Vin de Constance, um dos vinhos de sobremesa mais premiados do mundo. Lá você também pode se deliciar com um almoço para equilibrar seu corpo depois de tanto vinho.

Visite os Belos Jardins de Kirstenbosch
Se você é o tipo de visitante que gosta de misturar um itinerário mais intenso com alguns momentos de relax por belos parques, então você precisa visitar este lugar. É maravilhosamente lindo, diferente de qualquer outro lugar que eu já visitei antes. Paga-se uma taxa para entrar, logo na entrada, e você também pode optar por adicionar uma excursão pelo local com um carrinho de golfe. Nós optamos por caminhar sem pressa. Ao longo do caminho, árvores antigas muito bem cuidadas espalhadas por um vasto terreno. Outra sugestão é levar uma cesta de suas delícias favoritas e fazer um piquenique delicioso em meio à natureza.

Eu recomendaria uma estadia de pelo menos 5 noites na cidade, uma vez que são muitas as opções do que fazer. Nós escolhemos ficar em dois lugares diferentes, começando nosso roteiro pelo charmoso bairro de Constantia, que eles chamam de New Winelands.

Este bairro é tranquilo e cheio de vegetação. Ficamos no romântico e super confortável Relais & Chateaux The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel. Foi o começo perfeito para relaxar de e desligar da nossa vida tão agitada. Enquanto estávamos hospedados alí, visitamos o maravilhoso Kirstenbosch Gardens, onde você pode fazer um piquenique sob as belas árvores centenárias.

Nós não queríamos fazer um piquenique sem vinho, então fomos para o conhecido Klein Constantia Estate, que faz um dos vinhos doces mais premiados do mundo – o Vin de Constance. Fomos muito bem tratados enquanto saboreávamos os seus vinhos maravilhosos e depois provamos a deliciosa comida de bistrô sob uma árvore de jacarandá. Altamente recomendado.

Falando sobre comida, devo dizer que a refeição mais incrível que tivemos durante toda a viagem foi exatamente dentro do nosso hotel em Constantia. O Greenhouse Restaurant foi definitivamente um dos mais deliciosos menus de degustação que tivemos em toda a nossa vida. Absolutamente alto padrão, requintado e com criações saborosas.

Depois de dois dias relaxando, fomos para a agitada Victoria & Albert Waterfront Area, mais conhecida como V & A Waterfront. Aqui ficamos no suntuoso hotel Cape Grace Hotel, uma estadia absolutamente fabulosa, perfeitamente localizado em frente à marina, em uma área tranquila com vista para a Table Mountain. Designated by many as the most beautiful city in South Africa, Cape Town has also the title of the oldest city in the country. With its particular geography, it has plenty to offer, from outdoor acitivities for adventure seekers to high standard gourmet cuisine for food lovers.

I’d recommend a stay of at least 5 nights in the city, as there are so many things to do. We decided to stay in two different places, starting our itinerary from the beautiful Constantia Neighborhood, which they call New Winelands.

This neighborhood is tranquil and full of grenery. We stayed at the charming and very comfortable Relais & Chateaux The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel. It was the perfect start to chill out from our busy lives. While here we visited the absolutely wonderful Kirstenbosch Gardens, where you can have a picnic under the beautiful centenary trees.

We didn’t want to have a picnic without wine, so we headed to the well known Klein Constantia Estate, which does one of the most awarded sweet wines in the world – the Vin de Constance. We were fabulous well treated while tasting their marvelous wines and then we tasted their delicious bistrô food under a rosewood tree. Higly recommended.

Talking about food, I must say the most amazing meal we had during the whole trip was exactly inside our hotel in Constantia. At the Greenhouse Restaurant, we had the chance to taste one of the most delicious tasting menus we had in our whole lives. Absolutely high standard with inventive and savorous creations.

After two days of chilling out vibe, we headed to the vibrant Victoria & Albert Waterfront Area, better known as V&A Waterfront. Here we stayed at the suntuous Cape Grace Hotel, an absolutely fabulous stay, perfectly located in front of the marina, in a tranquil area with Table Mountain views. In this area you can either walk and have a delicious lunch in front of the sea, like we did at the charming Harbor House Restaurant, as you can rent a boat and watch the sunset from the ocean overlooking Cape Town’s beautiful bays.

We have heard about Cape Town and its beauty before, but driving through the Peninsula we were able to see how amazing it really is, from the Penguins Beach to Camps Bay, passing through the absolutely cinematographic Chapman’s Peak Drive, a must go place while visiting the city.

Nosso itinerário começou na vibrante Cidade do Cabo, onde vimos o pôr do sol mais incrível da magnífica Table Mountain, brincamos com os pinguins em Boulders Beach, tivemos o passeio mais cênico pela Chapman’s Peak Drive e saboreamos as mais deliciosas refeições de nossas vidas.

Então nós fomos a famosa Winelands, a linda região de vinho a aproximadamente 50 minutos de Cape Town. Com sua geografia particular e mais de 500 vinícolas, esta região é definitivamente um lugar obrigatório para os amantes do vinho que também admiram paisagens deslumbrantes.
Vivendo um Sonho nas Winelands
A terceira parte da nossa viagem foi certamente um dos destaques mais esperados: uma experiência de safári autêntica no belo Kruger Park, mais especificamente em uma reserva privada chamada Timbavati. Foi o nosso primeiro safári e fomos abençoados com lindos animais. Todo mundo diz que é uma experiência maravilhosa e única e agora posso afirmar definitivamente que é mais do que verdade. Nós amamos a energia e puro relaxamento que absorvemos daquela natureza tão selvagem e intocada.
Momentos Mágicos na Savanna
Finalmente, mas não menos importante, fomos para a ilha mais isolada de toda a nossa vida no Oceano Índico, em Moçambique. Já estivemos em muitas praias bonitas antes, inclusive Maldivas, mas este lugar … Oh boy! É definitivamente o paraíso na Terra!

Fomos capazes de aprender com esta viagem que mesmo em um lugar com tanta diversidade e às vezes injustiça – como o país em que eu vivo – as pessoas podem ser felizes e orgulhosas de sua origem. A África do Sul tem uma triste história recente e o turismo é definitivamente a melhor coisa que poderiam sonhar. Isso traz uma chance de um novo começo.

Eu acho que não é necessário mencionar que deixamos este lugar em lágrimas … Estamos de volta, mas metade dos nossos corações ainda está lá. África, você é especial. Vamos nos lembrar dessa viagem para sempre!
