My Dreamy Trip Through Africa

We would be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary trip in March/19, so one year ago – yeah, literally – we decided to plan this once-in-a-lifetime trip to celebrate this special occasion in high style. Our picked destination was Africa, so we selected the excellent Gilt Edge Agency to plan it for us. Vernon, our designate agent, has pacientfully hand-picked every detail of this dreamy trip, with marvelous 5* services and absolutely meticulous planning, exactly what we were looking for.

Our itinerary has started in the lively Cape Town, where we saw the most amazing sunset from the magnificent Table Mountain, played with penguins at Boulders Beach, had the most scenic drive through the Chapman’s Peak Drive and savoured the most delicious meals of our lives.

Then we headed to the famous Winelands, the beautiful wine region only about 50 minutes from Cape Town. With its particular geography and more than 500 wineries, this region is definitely a must go place for wine lovers who also admire stunning landscapes.

The third part of our trip was certainly one of the highlights: an authentic safari experience in the beautiful Kruger Park, more specifically in a private game reserve called Timbavati. It was our first safari and we were blessed with great game viewing. Everyone says it’s a marvelous and unique experience and now I can definitely affirm that’s more than true. We loved the energy and pure relaxation we absorbed from the bush.

At last, but not least, we headed to the most secluded island of our whole lives at the Indian Ocean, in Mozambique. We’ve been to many beautiful beaches before, but this place… Oh boy! It’s definitely Heaven on Earth!

We were able to learn with this trip that even in a place with so much diversity and sometimes injustice – like the one I live – people can be happy and proud of their origin. South Africa has such a sad recently history and tourism is definitely the best thing these places could ever dream for. It brings a chance of a new beggining.

I think it’s not needed to mention that we left this place in tears… We are back, but half of our hearts are still there. Africa, you are special. We will remember this trip forever!

O Que Fazer em Bodrum

Visitar Lugares Históricos

Era o início da viagem para a Turquia e nós queríamos relaxar, então não fizemos nenhum passeio turístico, mas certamente é uma região em que se pode visitar muitos lugares históricos. O Castelo de Bodrum é o ponto turístico mais famoso da região e abriga numerosas descobertas arqueológicas do Mar Egeu. A milenar cidade grega de Efesios e o Templo de Artemis- uma das Sete Maravilhas do Mundo Antigo – estão a pouco mais de duas horas de carro de Bodrum.

Velejar ao Longo da Costa

Uma das melhores coisas que você pode fazer quando estiver na Costa Turca é alugar um Gulet e velejar ao longo de enseadas paradisíacas. Os Gulets não são caros e oferecem uma experiência fantástica. Eu estive lá na semana mais movimentada do verão deles, então não consegui ter a oportunidade, mas da próxima vez com certeza farei isso. Se você estiver com orçamento mais apertado, não deixe de fazer o programa em grupo, certamente é muito bacana também.

Relaxar em Alto Estilo num Beach Club Badalado

Existem muitos beach clubs em Bodrum. Alguns dos mais famosos estão em praias privadas de hotéis luxuosos. Eu passei um dia no KAI Beach, do Hotel Mandarin Oriental, e posso dizer que tive um dia fantástico. Praia belíssima com águas transparentes, comida e serviço de primeira, ambiente bacana e música elegante fazem do lugar ainda mais especial. Você também pode experimentar o Il Riccio e o Maçakizi. É importante mencionar que geralmente você precisa pagar uma taxa de entrada ou um mínimo consumível.

Apreciar o Pôr do Sol no Mar

Bodrum é uma pensínsula, isso quer dizer que você terá praias que estão voltadas para o nascer do sol e outras para o pôr do sol. Não tem nada mais lindo do que ver o sol se pôr no mar. Os melhores lugares para apreciar esse momento estão nas regiões de Yalikavac e Gumusluk, mas você também terá belas vistas de Bodrum Town (quem sabe escolher um restaurante alí, como o Sait?).

Jantar Sobre a Água

Você consegue imaginar apreciar um belíssimo pôr do sol enquanto delicíasse com um belo vinho branco e deliciosos frutos do mar em uma mesa sobre as águas? Gumusluk é esse lugar. Um dos lugares mais famosos de Bodrum, um ambiente verdadeiramente mágico. Para mim o mais bacana da região é o Melengeç, mas existem muitos outros na região.

Bodrum é glamorosa e abriga os melhores restaurantes da Turquia. O que significa que você terá inúmeras opções para escolher quando quiser ter uma noite requintada. Para mim a melhor área para badalar é a Marina de Yalikavak, aonde muitas pessoas bonitas circulam e embelezam os badalados Fenix e Nus-Ret, dentre vários.

What To Do in Bodrum

Visit Ancient Sites
As it was the first part of the trip to Turkey and I was there for some relaxing time, I didn’t do any cultural tour, but for sure it’s a place where you can visit many ancient places. The Bodrum Castle is the most known of the Region and houses numerous underwater discoveries of the Aegean Sea. The milenar Greek city of Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis – one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – is about 2 hours drive from Bodrum and definitely worth the visit.

Sail Along the Coast
One of the best things you can do while in the Turkish Coast is to rent a private Gulet for one day and sail along pristine secret beaches. The Gulets are not expensive and they are so charming. I went there in the most busy week of the year, so I couldn’t have the chance, but I wanna definitely do that next time. If you are traveling on a budget, you can have a group boat tour, that may be fantastic too.

Relax in Style at a Trendy Beach Club
There are many beach clubs in Bodrum. Some of the most famous ones are in private beaches of luxurious hotels. I spend a day at KAI Beach Restaurant and Bar, from Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and had a wonderful day. Fabulous beach with crystal waters, outstanding service and food, cool ambience and elegant music make the place even more special. You can also try Il Riccio and Maçakizi. It’s important to mention that you usually have to pay a fee for the entrance.

Watch the Sun Setting in the Sea
Bodrum is a pensinsula, so you have beaches where you can watch the sunrise and others where you can watch the sunset. There is nothing more beautiful than enjoy the sun setting in the sea. The best places to enjoy it are Yalikavac and Gumusluk area, but you can also watch the sunset from Bodrum Town (why not try a nice restaurant there, such as Sait).

Dinner Overwater
Can you imagine a place where you can watch the sunset while having a delicious white wine and marvelous seafood seating at an overwater table? Gumusluk is this place. One of the most famous spot of the area, it has a magical ambience. The best restaurant to have the most wonderful experience is Melengeç, but there are many others in the area.

Bodrum is glamorous and houses the best restaurants of Turkey. Which means you have many options to choose when you want to have a fancy night. For me the best area for that is Yalikavac Marina, where many beautiful people walk around and beautify the trendy Fenix Restaurant and the famous Nus-Ret, as many others.

Vivendo o Sonho na Capadócia

Se você já pensou alguma vez em ir para a Turquia, você pensou em Capadócia e certamente pensou em balōes coloridos no céu.

Vista dos Balões do Capadocia Cave Suites em Goreme

Todas as manhãs, antes do nascer do sol, o céu começa a ficar repleto deles e dá-se início ao espetáculo. Dura aproximadamente 2 horas, mas certamente fica pra toda a eternidade na memória daqueles que a experenciam.

No início dos anos 90, eram apenas 2 ou 3. Hoje mais de 150 balões colorem os céus da Capadócia todas as manhãs. As companhias e os pilotos são super experientes e tudo é feito com muito profissionalismo.

Fazer um passeio de balão na Capadócia estava no topo da minha lista e foi certamente uma das experiências mais fantásticas que eu já fiz na vida. É de tirar ao fôlego e, ao mesmo tempo, tão relaxante e agradável.

O vôo começa antes do nascer do sol e dura entre 60 e 90 minutos, depende do que você contratou. Os cestos são grandes e acomodam de 06 a 24 pessoas. Você terá que acordar bem cedo, mas sinceramente, você nem conseguirá dormir de tão excitado que estará na noite anterior.

A equipe prepara tudo e faz o seu melhor para que que você se sinta super confortável. A decolagem é suave e o vôo é muito tranquilo. Lá em cima, as vistas são tão maravilhosas e de tirar o fôlego que você nem sequer percebe que já passou uma hora. No final, um café da manhã com champanhe para brindar àquele que seguramente foi um dos melhores momentos da sua vida.

Living the Dream in Cappadocia

If you ever thought about going to Turkey, you must have thought about Cappadocia and magical colorful hot air balloons.

Every morning, before sunrise, the sky starts to be filled with many of them and the spectacle begins. It lasts for about two hours, but keeps forever in the memories of those who have experienced it.

In the beginning of the 90’s they were only 2 or 3. Nowadays there are more than 150 balloons coloring the skies of Cappadocia every morning. The companies and pilots are very experienced and everything is made under absolutely professionalism.

Having a Hot Air Balloon Flight in Cappadocia was high on my list and it was definitely one of the most overwhelming experiences of my whole life. It’s so breathtaking but at the same time so relaxing and enjoyable.

The flight starts just before sunrise and lasts for about an hour or an hour and a half, it depends on what you paid for. It can acomodate from 06 to 24 persons. You have to wake up very early, but honestly, you can’t even sleep the night before so excited you are.

The staff prepares everything and make their best for you to feel comfortable. The departure is smooth and the flight is gentle. Up in the sky is so gorgeous and breathtaking you don’t even realize an hour has passed. At the end, a champagne breakfast as a toast for one of the best moments of your life.

Bodrum – A Riviera Turca

Quando eu pensei em ir pra Turquia, logo me veio à cabeça conhecer as famosas praias do país para relaxar nos primeiros dias da viagem. Foi então que descobri Bodrum, o destino perfeito para quem busca praias de cinema, hotéis de luxo, restaurantes e beach clubs badalados, mas também lugares de atmosfera relaxada e sites históricos.

Nós chegamos por Kos, uma ilha Grega bem em frente a Bodrum – fica a apenas 30 mins de ferry – mas você também pode chegar pelo Aeroporto de Bodrum ou mesmo pelo de Dalaman, um pouco mais distante. A área principal se chama Bodrum Town, com o famoso Castelo de Bodrum, mas toda a região também leva o nome de Bodrum. É bastante grande, com muitas praias lindas e baías de tirar o fôlego, então eu sugiro ao menos 3 dias para ter um idéia geral do lugar.

Nós ficamos em Yalikavac, no belíssimo hotel Sirene Luxury Bodrum. É um ótimo lugar para ficar, uma vez que fica a 10 mins da Yalikavac Marina com seus badalados restaurantes, e também 10 mins de Gumusluk com seus famosos restaurantes sobre a água.

Uma das melhores coisas que eu posso recomendar é que você alugue um carro para dirigir ao longo da costa ou você vai acabar gastando um monte em taxis como eu fiz. A parte negativa é que você terá que encontrar lugar para estacionar e isso pode ser um grande desafio na alta temporada, mas ainda assim considero que é a melhor opção para se movimentar facilmente e as estradas são sinuosas, mas belíssimas.

Bodrum Town tem várias lojinhas para passear. Também tem alguns lugares históricos para uma visita cultural. A Marina de Bodrum é a mais famosa da região e é dalí que saem os barcos para as principais ilhas da região.

Gumusluk é uma vila de pescadores com os charmosos restaurantes de frutos do mar sobre as águas. Yalikavac Marina é o lugar para badalar e ter um jantar requintado. Gundogan e Golturkbuku abrigam os melhores hotéis da região. Maçakizi e Mandarin Oriental estão entre os melhores deles. Se você quer ter férias badaladas ou simplesmente relaxar, Bodrum oferece de tudo. Veja o que fazer enquanto estiver lá.

Bodrum – The Turkish Riviera

When I first thought about going to Turkey, I started to research for the most breathtaking beaches to rest and have some relaxing days in the beginning of the trip. Than I found Bodrum. It is the perfect destination for those who seek for pristine beaches, luxurious hotels, trendy restaurants and beach clubs, but also charming laid back places and historical sites.

We arrived through Kos, a Greek Island right in front of Bodrum – 30 minutes by ferry – but you can also arrive at Bodrum Airport or even Dalaman Airport, a little bit further. The main area is called Bodrum Town, with the famous Bodrum Castle and ancient sites, but the whole region is also called Bodrum. It’s pretty huge, with many beautiful beaches and breathtaking bays, so I suggest at least 3 days to have a minimum overview.

We stayed at Yalikavak area, at the hotel Sirene Luxury Bodrum. It’s a nice area to stay, as you gonna be around 10 mins from the Yalikavak Marina with its trendy restaurants and also about 10 mins from Gumusluk with its famous seafood overwater restaurants.

One of the best things I would recommend you to do is to hire a car to drive along the coast or you gonna spend a lot in taxis as I did. The negative point is that you have to find places to park your car and depending on the season it’s something a little complex, but I think it’s the best way to move around easily and the roads are absolutely gorgeous.

Bodrum Town has many boutiques to do some window shopping. It also has the best historic spots to visit if you are looking for some cultural tour. The Bodrum Marina most is the most famous one in the region and from there you can get to other islands by boat.

Gumusluk is a fisherman village with charming overwater seafood restaurants. Yalikavac Marina is a place to go out and have some fancy dinner. Gundogan and Golturkbuku houses the most luxurious hotels of Bodrum. Maçakizi and Mandarin Oriental are among the best ones. If you want to have a glamorous holiday or just relax, Bodrum have it all. 10 Dias na Turquia

A Turquia é uma terra de tantas histórias. Centenas de anos atrás povos de todas as partes do mundo cruzavam o território que hoje chamamos de Turquia. É por isso que eles testemunharam tantas guerras. É por isso que tantos Impérios e religiões tiveram seu apogeu e declínio aqui.

Foi minha primeira vez no país, então eu quis ter um overview dos lugares mais bonitos do país. Viajar com a minha mãe numa viagem só de mulheres para um país muçulmano nos deixou um pouco apreensivas de início, mas logo percebemos que é totalmente seguro e tranquilo, muito mais do que no Brasil.

Nós decidimos começar a viagem relaxando numa praia. Para isso escolhemos Bodrum, uma região na costa sudoeste do país. Lá você pode encontrar praias paradisíacas de areia e de pedra, restaurantes e beach clubs glamorosos, mas também uma cultura rica e muitos lugares históricos. A milenar Efesius e o Templo de Artemis – uma das Sete Maravilhas do Mundo Antigo – ficam a pouco mais de 2 horas de carro de Bodrum.

Após três dias de muito sol nas maravilhosas praias de Bodrum, nos dirigimos a tão sonhada Capadócia, certamente o ponto alto da viagem. Nós estávamos tão excitadas com essa parte da viagem e podemos afirmar que não nos desapontamos. Acordar todo dia com o sol nascendo e milhares de balões colorindo o céu foi mais do que mágico.

Muito além disso, é incrível como essa região abriga riqueza de história. Nós visitamos uma cidade subterrânea que foi construída com alta tecnologia há mais de 4 mil anos. Fomos maravilhadas por um monastério todo esculpido nas cavernas. E nos derretemos com a mais linda apresentação de harpa enquanto a lua cheia começava a brilhar.

Após ficarmos maravilhadas na Capadócia, nos dirigimos para a última parte do nosso roteiro pela Turquia – Istambul. Essa cidade, que uma vez foi Constantinopla, tomou nosso coração por completo. Com 18 milhões de habitantes, esse lugar vibrante é tão cheio de histórias, tão rico em diferentes culturas. Eu tenho que dizer que mudei minha opinião sobre o islamismo após visitar Istambul. Eu era tão tola de pensar que todo muçulmano era severo.

Istambul é cheia vida. Das 08 da manhã à meia noite víamos inúmeras pessoas pelas ruas, bares e restaurantes. Nós tivemos uma experiência fantástica atravessando o Bósforo num barco privado, uma outra forma de conhecer a cidade. Visitar a parte antiga – chamada de Sultanahmet – é um item essencial da lista, com seus inúmeros sitios históricos que já testemunharam milhares de guerras e Impérios.

Se você estiver pensando em fazer uma viagem cultural, com manhãs de tirar o fôlego, misturadas a praias paradisíacas e comida maravilhosa, a Turquia definitivamente precisa estar nos seus planos. 10 Days in Turkey

Turkey is a land of so much history. Thousands of years ago people from all over the world used to cross the region we call today Turkey. That’s why they witnessed so many wars. That’s why so many Empires and religions had they apogee and decline here.

It was my first time in the country, so I wanted to have an overview of the most beautiful parts. Travelling with my mom in a girls trip to a muslim country made us a bit nervous in the beggining, but then we realized it’s absolutely peaceful and safe, much more than in Brazil.

We decided to start our itinerary relaxing at the beach. For that we chose Bodrum, a region in the Southwest coast. There you can find pristine sandy and rocky beaches, glamorous beach clubs and restaurants, but also rich culture and historic places. The milenar Ephesus and the Temple of Arthemis – one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – is located about 2 hours drive from Bodrum.

After 3 days sunbathing in the marvelous beaches of Bodrum, we headed to the dreamy Cappadocia, the highlight of the whole trip, for sure. We were so excited about this part of the trip and it didn’t disappointed. Waking up every morning at sunrise to watch the hot air balloons crossing the skies was more than magical.

Far beyond that, it’s incredible how much history this region hosts. We visited underground cities that were developed with high technology at least 4.000 years ago. We were marvelled by an ancient monastery all sculpt inside caves. And by an harp concert that made us melt while a fullmoon started to shine.

After being overwhelmed in Cappadocia, we went to the last part of our jorney through Turkey – Istanbul. This city, that was once Constantinopla, has taken our heart. With 18 million people, it’s so vibrant, filled with so much stories and different cultures. I have to say I change my mind about muslim because of Istanbul. I was so foolish thinking every Muslim was severe.

Istanbul is full of life, full of joy. From 08 in the morning to midnight there were hundreds of people in the streets, in the bars, restaurants. We had an amazing time crossing the Bosphorus in a private boat, another way to get to know the city. The old town – called Sultanahmet – is also a must go point, with the ancient sites that witnessed many wars and Empires.

If you are wishing to have a cultural trip, with breathtaking mornings blended to pristine beaches and marvelous food, Turkey should definitely be in your plans. If you want to know more about each region I have visited during this trip, have a look in the menu.

Todos muito bem decorados e confortáveis, com tecnologia de primeira, incluindo som ambiente conectado ao celular, Apple TV e uma pequena cozinha com microondas e geladeira. Para se sentir em casa…

🇧🇷 Passar a noite alí foi realmente muito mais incrível do que ir apenas para almoçar, embora também possa afirmar que o ambiente do restaurante Siete Fuegos é mais convidativo durante o dia, com a vista dos Andes e dos vinhedos. O silêncio absoluto foi perfeito para uma deliciosa noite de sono.

🇧🇷 O momento mais espetacular da nossa estadia foi o amanhecer. Acordamos com uma lua linda, em cima dos Andes, ainda iluminando as montanhas e os vinhedos dourados. Um frio gostoso. Um momento para ficar guardado. Dica: pague um pouco a mais e fique nas Villas Deluxe, que ficam em frente ao lago, assim você terá essa vista.

🇧🇷 O hotel tem todo o conforto digno de um 5*. A área de piscina é belíssima, embora não seja aquecida. Dispôe também de uma jacuzzi com uma bela vista dos vinhedos. A cereja do bolo, para mim, é a academia, descentemente equipada e com uma vista de cair o queixo.

🇧🇷 O resumo da nossa estadia: hotel belíssimo, muito luxuoso e com bastante tecnologia. Perfeito para famílias, pois os bangalôs ou “villas”, como eles chamam, têm quarto e sala separados, contando ainda com uma mini cozinha. Também é bom para casais, mas diria que ele não é tão charmoso e romântico quanto o Cavas. Espere por preços salgados em tudo, da massagem ao cafezinho.
